To celebrate Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and maps and their ability to connect people, regions and systems, VCU Libraries joins with hundreds of organizations around the world to mark GIS Day on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.

The event is free and open to all and will be held in person and live streamed through Zoom. A Zoom link will be sent to registrants.

  • 1:00 p.m.: Presentations
    • Carly Muir, Assistant Professor, VCU School of Life Sciences and Sustainability, and Paige Williams, Assistant Professor, VCU School of Life Sciences and Sustainability
    • Catherine McGuigan, Invasive Species Management Program Coordinator, Friends of the James River Park
    • Chris Gough, Executive Director, VCU Rice Rivers Center, Professor, School of Life Sciences and Sustainability
  • 1:45 - 3:00: Enjoy refreshments at the GeOreo bar as you network with local and regional organizations showcasing applications of GIS around Virginia
