Advance Your Research - Secondary Data Search and Retrieval: Sources, Exports, and Imports Online
Secondary analysis takes several technological steps. This session will take a close look at the exporting and importing processes. Focusing on ICPSR and SPSS, the webinar will show you how to (1) find datasets compatible with the right software; (2) download a data package with the data and a codebook; (3) locate the data file itself; and (4) move the data file to App2Go. We will also discuss strategies for keeping backups and ensuring data integrity.
By the end of the session, attendees will be able to…
- Retrieve ICPSR data with a specific variable in a specific analytical software format
- Explain the difference between restricted and public data
- Identify the components of the data package, including finding the data file
